Marc Almond

This story began back in the distant 80s, when young Englishmen Marc Almond and David Bell released the debut single Tainted Love of their project Soft Cell. The song, imbued with dark romance, became a kind of anthem for the new goth movement. From then on, this well-adapted melody was associated not with the original source, the 60s soul ballad by Gloria Jones, but exclusively with its new performer Marc Almond, Soft Cell, and the synth-pop music style. The band Soft Cell existed for only four years, yet with its dissolution, Marc Almond did not fade into oblivion. Thanks to his exceptional talent for recording complex, musically refined, yet undoubtedly popular melodies, he carved out a niche as an "intelligent pop singer," welcomed by both teenagers on the dance floor and highbrow music critics. Over his nearly twenty-year career, Marc has worked with Nick Cave, Nico, Psychic TV, Jimmy Somerville, John Cale, while remaining himself – a decadent romantic with a perfect sense of style. In 2004, Marc became seriously fascinated by disco rhythms and began touring the world with unusual DJ sets in the style of electro.
