At the age of 14, he lived next door to GL. He could hear the bass coming from JBL speakers through the thin walls of the neighboring room, so at some point he asked his neighbor about the music and thus became acquainted with the music of Zapp. Next came Kraftwerk (who still touch his soul), DAF, Visage, Police, Midnight Star… George Clinton, P-Funk… Ata was born in 1968 in Frankfurt, Germany, as the son of Irene Macias and Athanassios Kontogianis. It was here that he received the blessing to transform the city from the spirit of money and poverty into the spirit of House Music. Cinemas were showing Beat Street and Ata bought his first 12 by Grand Master Flash, It's nasty. There was a salesperson at his favorite record store, who also taught opera singing at the Frankfurt Opera House, who introduced Ata to Chicago House of the mid-80s. The decision to work in a music store at that time was the most evident, and he began working at Boy Records alongside Siggi Zahn and Achim Szepanski, where he also met Heiko M/S/O. Ata almost immediately wanted to start doing something himself. Due to working as an interior designer, Ata stopped professional training (singing) and became a DJ alongside Jörg Henze at Delirium. Recordings and design. From that moment on, events unfolded rapidly. Together with Heiko, Ata set up his first music label Ongaku. When Jörn and Roman, still recognizable as Acid Jesus, returned – he handed them a cassette of unusual music, the need for a new music label became obvious. Since then, their studio has been named Klangfabrik, they simply called it Klang. Soon their crew was joined by Jörn and Roman, and things started to roll. From that moment, 'Surprised' became the basis, an astonishing metaphor for their vision. Every young person should visit Hamburg at least once in their life. Ata was there in the mid-90s, and his stay in this wonderful city inspired him to take the idea of Männer ohne Nerven with him, using it ironically: the event one-person-one-player-one-microphone – to present his recordings as handmade. It was a time of parties in the red-light district at a bar near Frankfurt central station with Jonny Love and Heiko. The only one who was nervous about this was the owner. The first permanent official house parties started taking place at the Box club every Saturday. To this day, Ata's rising fame is dated from various past projects. For five and a half years every Thursday, he transformed the wildpitchclub into something like a living room for fans and connoisseurs of house music. Since it became boring to create a living legend, Ata got closer to the goal of his mission: Robert Johnson, which opened a year and a half ago, has minimal decor, flexible modules (compartments), white walls, special people rocking house sounds, and with Captain Ata at the helm, they now navigate the highest seas.
