Hot Chip, Alt-J and Citizens open summer in the Hermitage Garden

On June 1, the "Hermitage" garden will host the Ahmad Tea Music Festival for the third time, featuring modern British music. On this occasion, "Hot Chip", "Alt-J" and "Citizens!" will perform in Moscow for the first time.

Headlining the Ahmad Tea Music Festival 2013 will be "Hot Chip" – one of the brightest and most eclectic British bands of the late 2000s. Intellectual electropop with elements of soul, house, R&B, and a multitude of other musical phenomena and styles, absolutely different in each of the band's studio albums and completely unpredictable in live performance. The musicians are known for their active festival and concert activities, as well as their love for improvisations on stage, where well-known compositions acquire a completely new sound during performances. The band comprises original members of "Hot Chip" - Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard, as well as Owen Clarke, Al Doyle, and Felix Martin.

"One of the greatest bands of modernity," according to The Guardian, "Hot Chip" was founded in London in 2000. During its existence, the band has released five studio albums, 15 singles, a series of remixes of music by iconic bands such as "Kraftwerk" and "Gorillaz", as well as a wealth of ironic music videos featuring models, Hollywood actors, and virtual football players.

The performance of "Hot Chip" at the Ahmad Tea Music Festival will be preceded by young British bands "Alt-J" and "Citizens!".

The ambitious trip-folk band from Leeds, "Alt-J" gained truly worldwide fame after releasing their debut album "An Awesome Wave", which won several prestigious music awards. The band "Alt-J" consists of Joe Newman, Gwilim Sainsbury, Gus Unger-Hamilton, and Thom Green. The band's name encodes a key combination that produces the symbol ∆ on a Mac keyboard.

The London group "Citizens!" is a producer project by Franz Ferdinand's frontman Alex Kapranos. The band's debut album "Here We Are" was released in May 2012 and immediately made "Citizens!" a notable participant on the English music scene.

All three musical bands will perform in Moscow for the first time. Ahmad Tea Music Festival has been held since 2011 and represents the British tradition of music festivals within the Russian cultural space. Previously, during the festival, bands such as Anthony and the Johnsons, Klaxons, I Am Kloot, Fanfarlo, Erland & The Carnival, and Maximo Park have performed in Russia.
