Plums Fest 5 at Artplay: Points of Interest

On May 18, 2013, the 5th festival of audiovisual experiments and multimedia art, Plums Fest, will take place at Artplay. The festival traditionally takes place within the framework of the city-wide Night of Museums and is a central event of the Night of Museums at Artplay.

This year's festival program is equipped with a vibrant array of international and Russian audiovisual performances, an exhibition of light, video, and kinetic objects, performances by musicians along with video artists, as well as screenings.

The festival space will resemble something like a kinetic transformer, viewers can expect an unusual phenomenon of "animated" screens and a main stage that radically transforms several times throughout the night. In 2013, the festival is held with the general support of Winston XS Micro.

The declared theme of this year’s festival is Points of Interest. The main point of interest this year is the exploration of movement and kinetics in various forms and manifestations - from low-fi mechanics to complex tracking systems, particularly reflected in the work "Forms" by British artist Memo Akten, which will be among others shown at the festival.

The headliner of Plums Fest 5 at Artplay will be the French team of artists and architects in one, 1024 architecture, who will showcase the audiovisual performance Euphorie for the first time in Russia. The team has countless multimedia festivals and awards to their credit, the design of the French Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, creation of the grand visual show VTLZR with Vitalic, an interactive “singing” house in Lyon, and many other accomplishments.

Participants of Plums Fest 2013:

1024 architecture (Fr) with the performance Euphorie, Edisonnoside&Daniel Schwarz (IT-GER) with the performance Imposition, Optical Machines (NL) with the performance Shift, Memo Akten (UK) will be represented by several screenings of works, Dunaewsky69 (Ukr), DZA (RU), Kubrik’s Cube (RU), Nite (RU), dj Compass-Vrubell (RU), dj Saburov (RU) and others.

Support for musicians will be provided by video artists and VJs - Acidburn, Decoy (India), Taras Gesh, Naos, RYBY, and others.

The exhibition part of the program will include artists and art groups Alexander Lysov, Kirill Markushin, Evgeny Afonin (Netzz), Misak Samokatyan, Interactive Lab, Vizualdot, and others.
