Just a few words are enough to describe the multi-talented and internationally recognized singer named Cece Peniston. Her first single "Finally" was released in 1991 and immediately propelled her to the pinnacle of the music world. She was born in Dayton, Ohio and spent her youth in Phoenix, Arizona. Her presence and voice were personally requested by Aretha Franklin for a private birthday party in Detroit. Pope John Paul II invited CeCe Peniston to perform at the Vatican, and in South Africa she became the first singer to perform there after apartheid's abolition, before her stage companion Whitney Houston. CeCe began her recording career after graduating from Phoenix College at A&M Records with her debut album "Finally," which sold one million copies and went gold in the USA. Her single "Finally" reached number one on Billboard and went multi-platinum worldwide, and was released on more than thirty compilation albums. CeCe was not a one-hit wonder and continued her success by hitting the Billboard Top 10 with hits "We Got A Love Thang," "Keep On Walkin'," "I'm Not Over You," and the 2001 single "Lifetime To Love" (Billboard #2). All her other singles also made the Top 40. CeCe has been touring non-stop since 1991, performing at home and abroad in Japan, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Korea, Australia, South Africa, and Italy. Her second album was called "Thought Ya Knew," her third "Movin' On," and her fourth "Good News In Hard Times" was recorded in gospel. CeCe made nine music videos, her voice appears on numerous Hollywood blockbuster soundtracks, and two compositions became themes for the Oprah Winfrey show. She performed at NBA, WNBA and NFL games, sang at the closing of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Australia, and appeared many times on Regis & Kathy Lee, Rosie O'Donnell, Jay Leno, Arsenio Hall, BET, Ricki Lake, MTV, and VH1. She successfully toured with Grace Jones, Peabo Bryson, Tasha Scott and Tony Terry in The WIZ. US President Bill Clinton personally invited CeCe to perform at his inauguration in Washington.
